800px-National_Theatre_Washington_DCThe National Theater located in Washington, DC is a private, non-profit organization that features a variety of live stage productions with seating for 1,676.  Located on Pennsylvania Avenue across from Freedom Plaza, the theater is within walking distance to the White House. After your sightseeing ride around our great city with Angelic Luxury Tours, consider checking out a performance at the National Theater.

Most of you are familiar with some of the Broadway productions that have had performances at the National:  Amadeus, Hello Dolly, Show Boat, West Side Story and Hair. In recent years, the theater has expanded its activities to include concerts, ballet, receptions, and classic movies.

The classics can be viewed in the Helen Hayes Gallery at 6:30 p.m. on select Mondays through the year.  Among the shows being screened during the 2014 Summer Series are Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Wait Until Dark. And are you ready for this?  Tickets are free; however, they are distributed on a first-come basis 30 minutes prior to screening. Only one ticket is issued per person in line. So, if you plan on bringing the family, line ‘em up at the box office.

If you enjoyed the movie Dirty Dancing you will surely take pleasure in watching Amanda Leigh Cobb (as Baby) and Josef Brown (Johnny) in the roles portrayed on screen by the beautiful Jennifer Gray and charismatic Patrick Swayze. Cobb and Brown will undoubtedly heat up the theater with fancy footwork – among other things, when the National presents the stage performance of Dirty Dancing on August 26 – September 14th.
